Patanjali’s purified shilajit in capsule form. Shilajit is not a plant at all — it is a mineral-rich exudate that seeps from rock in the Himalaya during the summer months, then is collected and purified. The capsule is the convenient way to take it; the resin is the traditional one.

Nutrition information
No authorised nutrition or health claim applies to shilajit in Great Britain, so we have not made one. What follows describes what the material is and how it is prepared.
Under UK law we may only state nutrition and health claims that appear on the Great Britain Nutrition and Health Claims Register, and those claims belong to the specific nutrient rather than to the product as a whole. Where no authorised claim exists we say so, rather than implying something we are not permitted to state.
In detail
What shilajit actually is
Over a very long period, plant matter compressed between rock layers in high-altitude regions breaks down into a dense, tar-like substance. In summer, warmth pushes it out through cracks in the rock, where it is collected. Raw shilajit is then purified — the Sanskrit term is shodhit — before it is fit to take.
Capsule or resin?
Resin is the traditional format and is what experienced buyers usually look for: you dissolve a pea-sized amount in warm water or milk. It tastes strongly of smoke and earth, which not everyone enjoys. Capsules remove the taste and the measuring, at the cost of the ritual. We stock both — if you want the resin, see our Himalayan shilajit resin.
On testing, honestly
Shilajit is a mineral product, and lead, arsenic and mercury occur naturally in the rock it comes from. Purification is what removes them, and testing is what proves it. Ask us for the batch certificate before you order and we will send it. We would rather you asked that question than not.

Buying this in the UK
We ship this pack from India directly to your UK address. Orders are dispatched within 24 to 72 hours and take 5 to 7 working days in transit, so most arrive 6 to 10 working days after you order. UK delivery is £4.99 flat, and free on orders over £100.
We are registered for UK VAT, so on orders up to £135 the VAT is charged at checkout and there is nothing further to pay when your parcel arrives. On orders above £135, import VAT, any duty and a carrier handling fee are payable by you on delivery — our shipping policy sets out exactly how that works.
What arrives is the sealed manufacturer retail pack with the batch number and expiry date printed on it, which is worth checking the moment it turns up.
Questions people ask
What is the difference between shilajit capsules and shilajit resin?
Resin is the traditional form — a sticky, dark material you dissolve in warm water or milk. It has a strong smoky, earthy taste. Capsules contain the same purified material without the taste or the measuring. Resin is what connoisseurs choose; capsules are what most people actually keep taking.
Is shilajit tested for heavy metals?
It should always be. Lead, arsenic and mercury occur naturally in the rock shilajit comes from, and purification is what removes them. Ask us and we will send you the batch certificate.
What does shodhit mean?
It is the Sanskrit term for purified. Raw shilajit is not taken as collected — it goes through a traditional purification process first.
Is shilajit vegetarian?
The material itself is mineral and plant in origin. Check the capsule shell on the pack if you avoid gelatine.
When should I take it?
Traditionally in the morning, with warm water or milk. Follow the daily portion on the pack.
