Planet Ayurveda Ashoka – 100g of ashoka powder (Saraca asoca). A vegan food supplement, sourced from India and batch lab-tested for purity.
The ashoka is one of India’s most beloved sacred trees, a rainforest evergreen with clusters of flame-orange blossom. Its Sanskrit name means without sorrow, and it appears throughout Indian literature – legend places Sita in a grove of ashoka trees in the Ramayana. The bark, with its astringent, tannin-rich character, is the part used in classical practice and is ground here into a fine single-ingredient powder. The tree’s conservation matters: cultivated sourcing is the responsible standard for this species.
In classical Ayurvedic texts ashoka bark is traditionally associated with women’s wellbeing – one of the best-known herbs of that tradition, alongside shatavari and lodhra. That is a statement about its place in the classical system, not a modern claim: UK regulations authorise no health claims for ashoka, and we keep our descriptions factual and honest.
