How to take it, day to day

Morning

  • Prebiotics and Probiotics — 1 capsule first thing, before food.
  • Neem, Turmeric and Black Pepper — 1 tablet with breakfast.

Before bed

  • Triphala Churna — Half a teaspoon stirred into a mug of warm water, before bed. Start with a quarter teaspoon for the first week.

Timing conventions in Ayurveda are conventions, not rules. The single thing that matters most is taking it at the same time each day, because that is the routine you will actually keep. Always follow the recommended daily portion printed on each individual pack, and never exceed it.

Your 90-day course

We have written this kit as a course rather than a pile of bottles. The point of adding products one at a time is simple: if something does not agree with you, you know exactly which one it was.

  1. Days 1 to 7 — a quarter teaspoon of triphala. Stir into warm water at night. Start low. Triphala is sour and astringent and it takes most people a few days to get used to the taste; a quarter teaspoon is a fair introduction.
  2. Days 8 to 21 — go to half a teaspoon, and add the probiotic. The probiotic goes first thing in the morning, before food. Keep the jar somewhere cool.
  3. Days 22 to 90 — add the neem tablet. One with breakfast. Neem leaf is genuinely bitter; the turmeric and black pepper in this formulation are there to make it manageable.
  4. Day 90 — review. The 500g triphala jar will still be nowhere near empty. Most people keep the triphala going and decide separately about the other two.

How long the kit lasts, and when to reorder

The 500g triphala churna is roughly 200 servings at half a teaspoon, so about six months on its own. The probiotic and neem tablets run about 60 days each. Expect to reorder those two well before the triphala runs out.

Every product in this kit is also sold on its own, and most are available as a Monthly Plan — one, two or three months at a time, at a lower price per pack. Once you know what you are keeping, that is usually the cheaper way to continue.

Nutrition information

No authorised health claim exists in Great Britain for probiotics or for the botanicals in this kit, so we have not made one. Below is what each product is and how it is taken.

Under UK law we may only state nutrition and health claims that appear on the Great Britain Nutrition and Health Claims Register, and those claims belong to the specific nutrient rather than to the product as a whole. Where a kit contains no nutrient with an authorised claim, we say so rather than implying something we are not permitted to state. Everything else on this page describes what the ingredients are, where they come from and how they are traditionally prepared.

The ingredients, in detail

Triphala Churna (Three-fruit blend)

Part used: Fruit powder. When it is taken: Night, in warm water.

The same three fruits as loose powder, which is the form triphala has been taken in for centuries and by far the best value per serving. It is strongly astringent and sour, so it is traditionally stirred into warm water and drunk at night rather than swallowed dry. 500g is a large jar and will outlast the rest of the kit.

Prebiotics and Probiotics (Multi-strain, 100 billion CFU)

Part used: Live cultures. When it is taken: Morning, before food.

Ten strains at 100 billion CFU per serving, with prebiotic fibre alongside. Not part of the classical tradition, included as a modern complement. Store somewhere cool and dry.

Neem, Turmeric and Black Pepper (Azadirachta indica)

Part used: Leaf. When it is taken: Morning, with food.

Neem leaf is intensely bitter, which is exactly why the tradition values it, and it is formulated here with turmeric and black pepper to balance the taste. The neem tree is planted across India and every part of it is used.

Questions people ask

The powder tastes unpleasant. Am I doing it wrong?

No. Triphala is meant to taste like that — sour, bitter and astringent all at once. Warm water helps, a smaller dose helps, and most people stop noticing after a fortnight. If you would rather not, we sell triphala in capsules too.

How much powder is a serving?

Half a level teaspoon, roughly 2.5g. Start at a quarter for the first week.

Does the probiotic need refrigerating?

Follow the storage instruction on the pack. Cool, dry and out of direct sunlight is the general rule.

How is buying the kit different from buying the products separately?

You get exactly the same sealed retail packs — nothing is decanted or repackaged — for £7.97 less. You also get the routine and the 90-day plan above, which is the part most people actually want.

What if I miss a day?

Take it as normal the next day. Do not double up to catch up.

Can I take this alongside other supplements?

Usually, but check the labels for overlapping ingredients so you are not taking two of the same thing. If in doubt, speak to a pharmacist.

Can I take this if I am on medication?

Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before starting any food supplement if you take prescribed medication, or if you are under medical supervision. We are not able to advise on interactions.

Where do these products come from?

All of them are made in India by established manufacturers and shipped to us in the UK. Each pack carries its own manufacturer, batch code and best-before date, which you can read on the pack when it arrives.

Is everything in the kit vegetarian?

Check each individual pack, which carries its own full ingredient list and allergen declaration. Capsule shells vary by manufacturer.

How is the kit delivered?

As separate sealed retail packs in one parcel, shipped from India to your UK address.

Suitability, storage and allergens

  • Each product keeps its own retail pack, so the full ingredient list, allergen declaration, nutritional information and best-before date are on the pack itself.
  • Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, unless a pack says otherwise.
  • Not suitable for children under 18.
  • Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless your doctor or midwife has said otherwise.
  • If you have a thyroid condition, take prescribed medication, or are under medical supervision, speak to your doctor before use.
