Shilajit, gokshura and ashwagandha are the three products men in the UK ask us about most, usually after seeing them on social media wrapped in claims no one is allowed to make. This plan puts the three into one daily routine, explains their traditional Ayurvedic roles honestly, and adds the two nutrients that do carry authorised UK claims for men — zinc and protein — so the routine is both classical and compliant.
The plan at a glance
- Morning: shilajit resin (pea-sized) in warm water; gokshura with breakfast
- Daily: protein target from food (protein contributes to growth and maintenance of muscle mass)
- Zinc: contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood — authorised, only for products supplying ≥1.5mg zinc
- Evening: ashwagandha with warm milk
- Kit option: The Men’s Foundation Kit

What is the daily routine?
Morning: dissolve a pea-sized amount of shilajit resin in warm water or milk; take gokshura tablets with breakfast. Through the day: hit a sensible protein target from food, with a shake if training. Evening: ashwagandha — root tablets or a KSM-66 capsule — with warm milk. Weekly: two or three strength sessions and a consistent bedtime. Keep it for eight weeks before changing anything.
What are shilajit, gokshura and ashwagandha traditionally for?
In Ayurveda all three sit in the balya/rasayana group — substances traditionally associated with strength and vitality. Shilajit is a purified mineral-rich resin from Himalayan rock, classically taken in the cold months. Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris, gokhru) is a small spiny fruit used in classical formulas for men. Ashwagandha is the root traditionally taken in the evening. None of the three has an authorised UK health claim, so UK sellers may describe tradition only — anyone promising testosterone, performance or ‘vitality’ outcomes from these herbs is breaking the rules.
What CAN be said about testosterone in the UK?
Only this: zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood — an authorised claim for products supplying at least 1.5mg of zinc per serving. It is a claim for zinc, never for a herb. Some men’s blends include zinc for this reason; check the label shows the milligram amount.
How do I take shilajit resin?
Scoop a pea-sized amount (roughly 250–500mg) on the supplied spatula, dissolve in warm water or milk, drink in the morning. Buy only purified, lab-tested, branded resin — Kapiva, Himalaya (Shilajit Gold), Baidyanath. See how to take shilajit and resin vs capsules vs gummies.
What is safed musli — should it be in the plan?
Safed musli (Chlorophytum borivilianum) is another root in the same Ayurvedic men’s tradition, sometimes called ‘Indian ginseng’ alongside ashwagandha. It is an optional fourth herb once the core three are established. Traditional use only; no UK claim.
Who should check with a doctor first?
Anyone on blood-pressure, thyroid, diabetes or heart medication; anyone with kidney stones or gout (relevant for shilajit’s mineral content); anyone under 18. Stop and seek advice if you feel unwell.
What does a week on the plan look like?
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: strength training in the morning after shilajit; a protein-rich lunch; ashwagandha in the evening. Tuesday and Thursday: a walk or a run, lighter food, the same herbs. Saturday: a longer session or sport, followed by a warm-oil massage and an early night. Sunday: rest, batch cooking, and the week’s shopping. Gokshura every morning; shilajit every morning through the cold months; ashwagandha every evening. Keep the same bedtime all seven days.
Which brand for each product?
Shilajit: Kapiva’s resin is the best-known UK option; Himalaya Shilajit Gold is the capsule route with added gokshura; Baidyanath makes a traditional resin. Gokshura: Kapiva or Himalaya capsules, both single-herb and clearly labelled. Ashwagandha: Kapiva KSM-66 for an extract, Himalaya Organic for root powder tablets. Our brand guide compares them. Avoid unbranded ‘testo’ blends — they are usually under-dosed and cannot lawfully make the claims on their labels.
